A Dark Day for Women's Rights

Today, the Supreme Court upheld the federal abortion ban, which was passed by Congress and President Bush in 2003. The ban criminalizes abortions in the second trimester of pregnancy (12-15 weeks) that doctors and health professionals (including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Nurses Association) say are safe and the best to protect women's health. The ban does NOT include an exception to save the life of a woman. This ban tells women that politicians, not themselves or their doctors, will make their health care decisions.

If you are outraged by the U.S. Supreme Court's failure to clearly and unequivocally sustain the long-established principle that any and all restrictions on abortion must protect women's health, sign the Planned Parenthood pledge at here.
