Happy Inauguration Day

Much has already been said and written about this momentous day, my favorites being Pete Seeger's performance of "This Land is Your Land" at the Lincoln Memorial at Sunday's Inaugural concert, and this v-blog posting HERE by Jay Smooth of Ill Doctrine.

I, for one, am looking forward to four years of working towards positive change, rather than fighting for the ground already won. For expanding people's capacity in "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" rather than limiting it. For realizing that we are all Americans and that's what makes us mighty, not what brings us down.

We have many wounds to heal. Let's try not to create more in the process of that healing.

Now, go forth and celebrate! I will be in bed, fighting a nasty UTI - but I finally have some anti-biotics, so I'll just be helping them work their magic.

Hip hip hooray!

The First Day

So, this new year is off to a great start. Very relaxing, paid $300 in debt and saved $200. No alcohol today - I'm going to abstain for one month. Just to see if I can, see what it will do for my health and weight.

Netflix now has all the episodes of As Time Goes By (Judy Dench and Geoffrey Palmer) on Instant Play!!! I'm aiming to watch all of them ASAP. I don't know what it is about that show, but I love it. We'll see if I love it after 10 seasons.

I'm also going to try to eat as vegan as possible. My poor gut - I overindulged on the dairy yesterday and it is still angry at me. So, when I am preparing and purchasing my food, I'm going to try to have it as much without dairy or eggs as possible (and meat too - I think I eat a bit too much of that). But no worries, esp. those who have seen me through various eating style changes - I'll only be concerned about it when I'm the one doing the preparing or purchasing. I will not ask you or expect you to cook this way for me - truly, I'll probably need a break from such eating every once in a while.

There you have it - a pseudo list of New Year's resolutions.

Happy 2009!
